Word Whores Is Looking for a New Whore!
*Ahem*
We mean, a new blogger. Word Whores (http://word-whores.blogspot.com/)
is the group home of seven bloggers, all loosely associated by the fact that we
all write some form of speculative fiction. Running steadily and successfully
for over two years, Word Whores enjoys a substantial following. We have weekly
themes and each of the seven of us posts on the same day each week.
So, what are we looking for?
Serious writers with a sense of fun. We named the blog for
the Moliere quote "Writing is like prostitution. First you do it for love,
and then for a few close friends, and then for money."
· Don’t let the name fool you—you can be male, female or any combination thereof.
· You can write in multiple genres (several of us do), but we ask that at least one of them be some brand of speculative fiction. We don’t really split hairs after that.
· You can be heavily or lightly published, or just earnestly working to get there.
· We don’t care if you have an agent.
· We don’t really care about your personal hygiene, either, as long as you don’t go into gory detail on the blog.
· We ask for at least a one year commitment to writing posts to go up each Saturday, preferably by noon, Eastern Time, U.S.
· By specifying U.S. there, we mean to indicate that you could totally be a non-US resident.
· Of course you can schedule posts ahead of time.
· Weekly themes can always be perverted (heh heh heh) or ditched entirely to pimp book releases.
An application form can be found down below:
If you have questions, feel free to ask any of the Word
Whores. We can be reached via the contact buttons on our personal pages on the
Word Whores blog.
Do you have what it takes to be a Word Whore? Oh yes, you
know you do.
The application form is now closed. Thanks to everyone who applied!
I love you guys and I'm sorry to see any of you go. But I understand. Best wishes to the departing whore. :hugs:
ReplyDeleteLike I said on FB, I'd totally throw my hat in the ring, if life wasn't crazypants right now. I'm gonna be jacked-up for the next month with moving to Missouri. It'll be hard enough keeping up with my other blogs to commit to anything. =o(
Ok, I threw my name out into the great nebulus that is online forms.
ReplyDeleteI have followed your blog for a couple months now, and have been moved to laugh out loud, scratch my head, and gasp. But more than that your posts have helped me not feel so alone. I have written a fantasy steampunk and will start looking for agents next week, see if anything happens or not.
Like many of you I have a full time job and a hot (I say hot because if he wasn't he wouldn't be much of a distraction...but mine is hot and he distracts me) husband and three little kids. So your words of encouragement or just simply complaining has made me realize that I am not the only one going through this process.
So if I can help anyone else out there feel the same way you all have...then it would be worth the effort of writing a blog post a week.
Even if you don't ask me, a huge THANK YOU!!! To each of you. Keep the laughs coming, they hit just the right spots :)
That has to be the best comment ever, Lexi - thanks for telling us that!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lexi! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment, Lexi. You are not alone! All of us freaks are out here pulling alongside you.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with the move, B.E. I hope that goes without a hitch.
ReplyDeleteLexi, it is so heartening to know we might actually be doing some good. Boy, are there days I wonder! :D I'm so glad you posted and put your name in the ring.
Nice of you to comment!
ReplyDeleteAnd it is true, so keep that in mind when you are having a bad day and struggling to find the top side of a sideways plot! You are making a difference to someone :)
