It's not eery day that somebody willfully uses their career as an example of what not to do, but it does happen with decent regularity and reminds me that there's an edit button for a reason.

Allison: I cheered when I saw that scene. it was nice to know that someone in Hollywood understood me that well. :) And I'm not alone on that one.

Jeffe: Again, in h is defense, he was deeply and profoundly intoxicated, so, you know, his reasoning skills maybe weren't their best. To my knowledge, by the way, he still hasn't managed to get published. That just might be because he can't write. I don't know as I have never read him.

B.E. I prefer to stay at a nice low simmer myself, but a few fans of the flame and I'm driven to write some delightfully bloody scenes. ;)
James A. Oy, the big ones though ... like the infernos created by authors who get into flame wars in social media spaces. ~winces~K.A. I'll bet you know just what scene from the Avengers that I'm talking about --> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZwfBMppWVYc

*cough*

Anyway, I suspect I also harvest a great deal of anger as well (and possibly for some of the same reasons as you) - it's just that I've been conditioned to internalize it. It's not particularly healthy, which I realize - and I'm doing my best to try to work through a lot of it as I can.

On the other hand, lashing out and burning bridges is rarely a good move. As you said - this industry is fairly small and incestuous in some ways. Unless you're a superstar in author terms, you can risk quite a bit by ranting.

And copping a feel? Drunk or not, perfect example of privileged patriarchy right there. (Maybe I should save that for my post on Lust on Thursday, tho. >_<)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08810952821295312008noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7663321286319002443.post-68956637886409757952013-02-11T09:55:50.193-05:002013-02-11T09:55:50.193-05:00Totally agree, James - anger can be the fire that ...Totally agree, James - anger can be the fire that gets me up off my ass to make changes. But we only have to observe one author meltdown to see the bad side of that coin...

And whoa, really? That guy thought copping a feel was the way to get professional attention from an editor??? Just wow.Jeffe Kennedyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04779020656676094853noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7663321286319002443.post-84407940131225761502013-02-11T08:33:16.500-05:002013-02-11T08:33:16.500-05:00Great post, James. I'm more likely to just let it go now. Maybe instead of letting it go, I should use it to light a fire under my buns.B.E.
