I despise when authors think it's cute to add sound effects or to break up the narrative by having several people read. It isn't a movie. If I wanted a movie, I'd watch one. I have a hearing impairment and the sound effects, etc., negatively impact the narrative. I want to hear the BOOK, not some crap that I can add myself. When I read, I add my own visuals, etc. It's the same with an audiobook. Just read the book to me. I don't need a bunch of other crap added to distract from the words. It's annoying. I love audiobooks that are well read by ONE reader. I despise audiobooks that some producer has decided to make into an audio "movie." Clearly, these folks don't read. Don't ruin my book. I also HATE abridged versions. I want the whole enchilada. Thanks for your wonderful questions. michelle_willms@yahoo.comAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10668919431444715614noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7663321286319002443.post-22469403768127176652013-09-30T11:10:39.908-04:002013-09-30T11:10:39.908-04:00I have listened to several audiobooks and enjoyed ...I have listened to several audiobooks and enjoyed a few and hated others. A lot depends on the narrator, for me. Currently, because I was so fascinated by hearing a different voice, I am listening to the audiobook of SEVEN FORGES. The narrator is quite good but does not read my words at all like I hear them in my head. :)James A. Some day I will try one, I just worry that hearing someone else's voice would color my imagination. Oh wait...a Scotish burr for a steamy romance novel. Hmm, I have to get to Barnes & Noble!<br /><br />*no need to enter me, I have an ecopy already :)Alexia Chantelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03048542370172786608noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7663321286319002443.post-37152649996187689392013-09-28T06:30:39.843-04:002013-09-28T06:30:39.843-04:00I love audiobooks. Not much brainpower needed for those tasks, so an audiobook not only makes my day more interesting, it also makes it go faster. I've listened to about 20 audiobooks so far this year. I try to purchase both the audio and the ebook version when I can. I use Audible and sometimes they will have a special bundle price for both the ebook and audio format. There is also a great feature called whispersync where your reading location is synced over all devices.Rinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03973808553819758701noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7663321286319002443.post-89547262083052272542013-09-28T02:54:39.464-04:002013-09-28T02:54:39.464-04:00I myself don't like audiobooks. Give me a print book over any other kind of book any day ( ebook when print is not available works as well.)<br /><br />Don't enter me, I got Wreck lined up on my ereader, I just need to get to it one of these days.Sullivan McPighttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15133432350331782496noreply@blogger.com
