A childhood favorite

So many choices, really.

First I could say "The Lorax," which definitely shaped my opinion on ecology.

But the real winner? JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH.  The story by Roald Dahl was the first I read on my own and as wacky and insane as anything I had ever run across. Truth be told, it was read to me in the first grade by a teacher I couldn't name now if I had to, but I asked and was allowed to read the book every day when she was done with it, and I would read it as best I could during lunch and recess. The book stayed at school, of course, but I read it. And I loved it.

I think I might have to break down and buy a copy at some point.

Good stuff.

Still haven't seen the movie version. I might well do that, too.
